MSU Shai Girl ("Shai")
2008 purebred Arabian mare
Shai is a 2008 purebred arabian mare. Shai is a newly turned western mount that clicks really well with select riders but can be tricky to ride otherwise. She is my personal horse that gives a handful of lessons a week. One of her riders is a 5 year old and she listens to her exceptionally well! She is very friendly, loves attention, and always the first at the gate.
Blazin' Hearts ("Heart")
2003 Half-Arabian / Saddlebred Mare
Heart is a 2003 half arabian/saddlebred mare that lived a long live in the show ring. She took many youth to rated shows, regionals, and even nationals as a saddleseat horse. She enjoys her semi-retirement with us and is coming along as a hunter for more advanced kids and adults.
MSU Steppin' out ("Steppin")
2008 purebred Arabian
Currently the youngest of the crew being born in 2011, Steppin has been the most recent addition to the program. He has a long history of showing english, western, and showmanship. He is a very well trained that can pack an advanced beginner kid around safely. He is friendly, easy going, and has that puppy dog gelding personality everyone loves!
EA Tazer Gun ("Taz")
2005 Arabian / Hackney Pony
Taz is a 2005 half arabian/hackney pony. He is no pony size! he is a stout and beefy all of 15.2hh. Taz is a wonderful saddleseat horse with all the bells, whistles, and flashiness. He loves his job and is fantastic at it. He is a powerhouse even in his older years and will take a confident youth into the show ring with pride.
Whoz Your Daddy ("Whoz")
2003 Half-Arabian / Saddlebred Gelding
Whoz Your Daddy, or “Whoz” for short, is a 2003 Half-Arabian/Saddlebred gelding and was the very first addition to our program in 2023. As our foundation horse, he brings both a bold heart and a spirited personality to the barn. Once he knows you, Whoz is incredibly loyal and always gives his all for a trusted rider—but he’s clever and isn’t afraid to test someone new! With his sweet nature and unforgettable name, Whoz easily wins over the hearts of everyone he meets.
Emerald Cut ("Emerald")
2003 purebred Arabian
Emerald is a 2003 purebred arabian. She has been an amazing and irreplaceable foundational horse to my program. She is truly the best and safest horse for anyone to learn on no matter the age. She came a year later after Whoz and helped build my program from scratch. She is kind, patient, and an incredible teacher to many kids.
My daughter Isabelle loves riding horses and has had such a wonderful experience learning from Melinda. She feels very comfortable working with Melinda, and you can see her confidence growing. We tried another riding academy, and Isabelle didn't feel comfortable. I would highly recommend MSB Riding Academy to anyone interested in learning to ride horses!
